SINGAPORE — Some Singtel customers were unable to make or receive calls on Friday (Aug 24) morning, with the nearly two-hour disruption resolved around 10.15am.

On the telco's Facebook page, users started complaining as early as 8.30am that they were unable to make or receive calls.

The disruption did not appear to be confined to a particular area, with users reporting connection issues from places like Choa Chu Kang, Buona Vista and Tuas.

A Facebook user who goes by the handle Wyman Tan said: "I could not make outgoing calls this morning while all other functions are working fine. What was even more annoying was calling Customer Service 1688 from office and was put on hold for 30mins and still I was not attended to. At least Singtel could have sent a mass SMS out to inform it's customer of the service failure rather than leaving it's customer guessing what's the problem."

In a Facebook post around 10am, Singtel telco announced that some customers may be "experiencing intermittent difficulty making and receiving 4G voice calls", and that its engineers were "working on resolving the issue".

Later, Singtel edited its post to say that the "intermittent issues with 4G voice calls" were resolved at 10.15am.

Responding to queries from TODAY, a Singtel spokesperson confirmed that the issue started at about 8.30am.

"Our engineers have diagnosed it was due to a faulty hardware and service was fully restored at 10.15 am," said the spokesperson.

Singtel did not reveal how many customers were affected by the service outage.
