S’pore temperatures could dip as low as 22°C in the first week of Dec, as wet, windy weather continues: MSS

SINGAPORE — Expect the wet and windy weather over Singapore to continue over the next fortnight, said the weatherman.

In a media advisory on Friday (Nov 29), the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said that short moderate to heavy thundery showers can be expected in the afternoon on five to seven days in the first half of December.

Singapore and the region can expect a monsoon surge in the first week of December lasting from two to four days, the MSS added.

The surge is likely to bring cloudy and occasionally windy conditions with periods of widespread moderate to heavy showers over the island, it said.

The prevailing conditions are due to strong solar heating of land areas coupled with localised convergence of winds, the MSS said.

The monsoon surge in the first week of December is expected to bring cooler daily temperatures of between 22°C and 30°C, it added.

For the rest of the fortnight, the daily temperatures are forecast to range between 24°C and 33°C, and could dip to a low of 23°C on a few nights, while daily maximum temperatures could still reach a high of around 34°C on a few days.

Overall, the MSS said that most parts of Singapore can expect above normal rainfall in the first half of December.
