SINGAPORE — The Public Utilities Board (PUB) has said that the tap water at Raffles City is safe for consumption, following reports of cloudy and foul-smelling water in at least five restaurants at the mall last Friday (Oct 4).

In a statement today, PUB said it took water samples from the distribution pipe, the water mains and the water storage tank of the building on Sunday for tests, and the lab results have showed that the water is safe for drinking.

PUB said renovation works at Raffles City could have caused temporary discolouration of the water. It also noted that the issue was confined to Level 1 and Basement 1 of the building.

The water is now clear.

Nonetheless, as an added precaution, PUB said that the management of the mall has carried out thorough flushing of the main distributing water pipe. PUB will also continue to monitor the water quality. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
