TRS sedition trial resumes
The sedition trial of Yang Kaiheng, founder of the now-defunct sociopolitical site The Real Singapore (TRS), resumes today, after it was adjourned following a nine-day hearing in April. Yang, 27, faces seven sedition charges relating to articles published on TRS, which he allegedly ran with then-girlfriend Ai Takagi. The prosecutors has sought to show that Yang was actively involved in running the website, but Yang has claimed that his involvement waned over time, and Takagi had taken over management of the website. Takagi, 23, who is now his wife, was sentenced to 10 months’ jail in March after she pleaded guilty to identical charges.

The election is scheduled to be held on July 10. Mr Abe had said his ruling Liberal Democratic Party and junior coalition partner Komeito is targetting to win a majority of the 121 seats to seek a mandate for his proposal.
