SINGAPORE — Two alleged administrators of the Telegram chat group “SG Nasi Lemak”, where obscene videos and photos of Singaporean girls were shared, were handed more charges on Tuesday (Oct 22).

Leonard Teo Min Xuan, 26, and Liong Tianwei, 37, were among four charged last week with one count of distributing obscene material on Telegram between January and October.

Liong was charged on Tuesday with three counts of transmitting pornographic material through the chat group on three separate days — June 25, and July 7 and 17.

He will remain in remand at Woodlands Police Division for another week and will return to court on Oct 29.

Meanwhile, Teo is further accused of possessing pornographic material in his electronic devices. The freelance actor and dancer is represented by lawyer Ashwin Ganapathy of IRB Law.

District Judge Adam Nakhoda ordered Teo to be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for two weeks for psychiatric observation. He will return to court on Nov 5.

The teen administrators in the group — Justin Lee Han Shi, 19, and Abdillah Sabaruddin, 17 — were given one additional charge last Friday of possessing obscene objects in their mobile phones. Lee was also accused of having them in his computer.

They will return to court on Nov 15, and are out on bail of S$5,000.

If convicted of distributing obscene material, the four suspects could each be jailed up to three months, fined or both.

The Telegram group is no longer accessible but had more than 40,000 members when it was active. Several women recently called out the group after discovering their photos had been shared there.

The police said they received several reports in relation to the chat group between March 15 and Oct 3.

After establishing the identities of the four suspects, police officers arrested them at various locations across the country on Oct 14 last week.

More than 10 electronic devices — including a central processing unit, a laptop, a hard disk and several mobile phones — were also seized.
