Two new Permanent Secretary appointments

SINGAPORE — The Public Service Division has made two Permanent Secretary appointments. Both will take effect from Aug 1.

Major-General (NS) Ng Chee Khern, who is the Permanent Secretary for Defence Development, will also be the Second Permanent Secretary for Health. The Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Deputy Secretary for Asia-Pacific and International Organisations, Mr Albert Chua, will be appointed Second Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs.

Mr Chua joined the Foreign Affairs Ministry in 1992, and has served in various appointments. He was appointed Principal Private Secretary to then-Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong between 2004 and 2007. He was also High Commissioner to Australia in 2008 and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York in 2011.

As Second Permanent Secretary, both men will work with the Permanent Secretary to support their respective Ministries and drive major initiatives. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
