SINGAPORE — Warmer days are expected in the first half of April, with moderate to heavy thundery showers over parts of Singapore in the afternoon on most days and occasionally extending into the early evening.

The daily temperature is forecast to range between 24°C and 34°C, but may reach 35°C on a few days, despite the expected wet weather, said the Meteorological Service Singapore in a weather update on Friday (March 31).

Widespread moderate to heavy thundery showers with occasional gusty winds are expected over Singapore in the pre-dawn hours on a few days.

The Met Service said that thunderstorms may be heavy at times during this period, together with higher lightning activity persisting through May 2023.

Overall, the total rainfall for this period is forecast to be near average for most parts of Singapore, with less rainfall expected in the second week of April than the first.

Singapore experienced thundery showers on most days in the second half of March, with above average rainfall and highest daily total rainfall of 117.4mm recorded around the Henderson area on March 30.

In March, the daily temperature ranged from 21.1°C to 34.9°C.

The highest daily temperature of 34.9°C was recorded on March 23 at Choa Chu Kang, while the lowest daily minimum temperature of 21.1°C was recorded at Newton on March 1.

During the monsoon surges in the first week of March, three days recorded daily maximum temperatures of below 28°C, with East Coast Parkway reaching only 26.1°C on March 3 and 4.
