SINGAPORE — A 48-year-old woman who allegedly failed to license and take care of her two pet dogs was charged in court on Wednesday (May 16) by the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA).

Aw Pau Kim, 48, faces three charges under the Animals and Birds Act.

According to court documents, she was said to have put the two dogs in a cage and exposed them to bad weather on July 18 last year at Block 3012 Bedok Industrial Park.

She also allegedly did not take out a licence for both dogs, a white-and-black mongrel and a black-and-brown mongrel.

Aw was further charged with failing to comply with a directive, issued in September last year by the AVA’s director-general. She was given the order to safeguard the welfare of the dogs by relocating them to a conducive environment with enough food, water and shelter by Oct 3, 2017.

On Wednesday, Aw told District Judge Adam Nakhoda that she has since microchipped and licensed the dogs.

Aw will appear in court again on June 6 to enter her plea.
