SINGAPORE — A 23-year-old woman was charged in court on Friday (Aug 17) with allegedly duping interested buyers into purchasing either tickets to a recent JJ Lin concert or the National Day Parade (NDP).

SINGAPORE — A 23-year-old woman was charged in court on Friday (Aug 17) with allegedly duping interested buyers into purchasing either tickets to a recent JJ Lin concert or the National Day Parade (NDP).

Foong Si Min, who allegedly pocketed S$3,220.30 from the transactions made on mobile classifieds app Carousell, faces 17 counts of cheating.

Courts documents revealed that the offences began as early as July 14 this year, with the latest offence taking place on Aug 5.

Foong's modus operandi, said the police in a news release on Thursday, was to become uncontactable once her victims made payments for the tickets through a bank transfer.

The victims also reported that they did not receive the tickets as promised.

The JJ Lin concert was to be held over four days — Aug 15, 16, 18 and 19 — with tickets costing between S$148 and S$348. NDP tickets, available only via a public ballot, are not for sale.

In one instance, court documents revealed that Foong allegedly sold four NDP tickets for S$203.50.

On July 27, she allegedly sold two JJ Lin concert tickets at S$703.50 to another victim.

The police said on Thursday that they received 16 reports from victims who came across listings for the tickets on Carousell.

Foong returns to court on Sept 6. If convicted, she could be jailed up to 10 years, and fined.
