SINGAPORE — Former Workers’ Party (WP) chief Low Thia Khiang has been discharged from the hospital, after he was warded for three weeks due to a head injury from a fall.

In a statement on Friday (May 22), WP said Mr Low was discharged on Thursday and is currently on hospitalisation leave.

The party added that he is now recuperating at home and undergoing rehabilitation.

“Mr Low and his family wish to express their thanks to the staff of the intensive care unit and Ward A82 of the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for their dedication and professionalism during his stay,” it added.

Mr Low, 63, was in the intensive care unit for five days before he was moved to a general ward.

Mr Low is the longest-serving Opposition Member of Parliament (MP) in Singapore, since winning the Hougang single-member constituency in the 1991 General Election. He has been an MP for the Aljunied Group Representation Constituency since 2011.
