Don’t lose connection

SINGAPORE — Even as our routers get more powerful, there are points where we can’t get a good signal even in smaller homes. While there are various solutions available to get that signal through an offending wall in your home, the Linksys AC1200 MAX Wi-Fi Range Extender (aka the Linksys RE6500HG) remains one of the easiest solutions.

Setting up the RE6500HG is simple: Power it up, access the router via your browser, get it signed in to your home network and you’re good to go. You don’t have to worry about adding a new network to your phone or laptop, and moving between your router and the Range Extender is seamless.

The RE6500HG features Cross-Band Technology that promises faster data transfer speeds within the home — I definitely did not notice any drop in Internet or HD streaming speeds. It comes with dual-band Wireless-AC connectivity and four Gigabit Ethernet ports are also available for wired connections to the RE6500HG in your home network.

The Linksys RE6500HG is only truly required if you have dead spots in your home or would like a more consistent signal in certain areas. Still, for those of us who just need that boost — or live in a big house — its ease of set-up and power make it something worth considering.

The Linksys RE6500HG is available at Harvey Norman, Challenger and BEST Denki at S$179. ALVIN CHONG
