Alumni of defunct primary schools: Their children shouldn’t lose out

There is an unfortunate group of Singaporeans: Those whose primary schools, many of which were neighbourhood schools, have been consigned to history. Under the current registration phases, these alumni of defunct schools do not qualify under Phase 2A (1 or 2), through no fault of theirs.

Children of these parents should at least be given the opportunity to qualify under Phase 2A(2) for any school within the same neighbourhood or designated zone. This inequity should be addressed, as children of parents from branded schools do not have to face such a problem: Their school can be relocated several times, but the name is functioning.
