We thank Dr Danny Tan for his support of our Citizen Archivist Project in his letter “Robust vetting a must for citizen archivist work” (March 12).

The National Archives of Singapore launched the project as a crowdsourcing partnership with the public to better preserve Singapore’s history and heritage.

We welcome every contribution to help identify and caption old photographs of Singapore and transcribe documents from the Straits Settlement Records.

We believe that the community will do so to the best of their knowledge.

Members of the public can provide additional information and fine-tune the captions and transcriptions after these have been uploaded.

We are encouraged by the contributions we have received.

These contributions will help make our rich history more accessible to everyone.
