Up to eateries to decide on allowing guide dogs on premises
I refer to the report, “Public education on guide dogs ‘needs to be ramped up’” (Sept 10). Whether a guide dog or pet, a dog is a furry animal that some eateries disallow mainly for health and hygiene reasons.

Even though guide dogs are allowed on trains and other public facilities, it is up to eateries to decide whether their other guests are comfortable with having a dog in the dining area.
While a guide dog and its owner can be allocated a convenient location in a restaurant, and we should commend eateries that allow guide dogs in, we also cannot publicly fault decisions otherwise. Much as I love dogs, I feel that forcing someone’s privilege onto others is not gracious.
