Full fees to re-enrol in part-time modules: ITE prepared to look into each case

We thank Mr David Kwok Ng Kan for his feedback on the Institute of Technical Education’s (ITE) part-time modular courses (“Huge jump in fees for Singaporeans who re-apply for modules of ITE part-time courses”; May 23).

The Institute of Technical Education says it is prepared to look into each case if there are valid reasons a student cannot complete a module.

We thank Mr David Kwok Ng Kan for his feedback on the Institute of Technical Education’s (ITE) part-time modular courses (“Huge jump in fees for Singaporeans who re-apply for modules of ITE part-time courses”; May 23).

The Government heavily subsidises all part-time courses at the ITE.

To benefit as many Singaporeans as possible, students who abruptly withdraw after a part-time course starts, or who fail the course, will have to pay full fees if they re-enrol in the same module.

Nonetheless, we recognise that adult learners may face challenges in completing a course owing to unforeseen circumstances. If there are valid reasons a student is unable to complete a module, the ITE is prepared to look into each case.

The ITE will continue to support Singaporeans in their lifelong learning journeys and will be in touch with Mr Kwok to see how we can address his concerns further.
