Make effort to inform relevant authority of dirty lifts

I agree with the letter “S’poreans must play their part to ensure lifts are not abused” (March 14).

Keeping our lifts clean is part of ensuring they are not misused, and Singaporeans are key to keeping the condition of lifts up to standard, as we are the ones using them.

Many a time when I step into the lift, I see litter. Sometimes, the people who drop litter just kick it into the lift shaft. In other instances, sweet drinks are spilt.

But instead of informing the agency responsible for lift cleanliness to get it cleaned as soon as we can, people ignore the mess on the floor. This attracts insects and animals to our lifts.

Although cleaning up the mess in the lift may be beyond us, we can still play our part as responsible citizens by informing the relevant agencies, so as to ensure a clean environment.

Surely none of us want to take a dirty lift, so let us make the short journey a pleasant one.
