Remove main doors of public toilets for better hygiene

It is opportune for the Government to pass a law and stipulate a schedule to remove all main doors of public toilets by the end of this year. This is so that users do not have to touch the doors after they wash their hands.

The Government is managing the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak calmly and is distributing four surgical masks to each household in the next few days. Let us be appreciative.

Taking responsibility for our hygiene is important to combat the virus spreading around the world from Wuhan, China.

We may not have hand sanitiser in all public spaces. It is available only in places such as hospitals and clinics, and some shopping centres.  

Everyone should have a small bottle of sanitiser when leaving the house. 

It is also opportune for the Government to pass a law and stipulate a schedule to remove all main doors of public toilets by the end of this year. This is so that users do not have to touch the doors after they wash their hands.

Let us replace these with automatic doors or do away with the main doors altogether. The toilets at Changi Airport, for instance, are configured such that users can walk in and out without opening a door.

It is time for our tiny island nation to upgrade our hygiene practices.
