Catherine Lau, Assistant Chief Executive, Public Library Services, National Library Board

We thank Voices contributor Jassy Hor for her feedback (“Allow students preparing for exams to use study areas in public libraries”; Oct 1).

The National Library Board’s phased approach to the resumption of our library services is aligned with the advisory from the Covid-19 multi-ministry task force.

The continued safety of our patrons and staff members remains our priority.

For now, our capacity control measures and the closure of seating and study areas will still need to be in place to reduce social interaction and minimise community transmission of Covid-19.

Nonetheless, we are actively monitoring the situation and will review our service offerings in tandem with the task force’s plans at the national level.

We thank our patrons for their understanding, cooperation and patience as we prepare for the phased resumption of library services to ensure that our libraries and archives remain safe for everyone.
