What is the status of Delta Swimming Complex’s upgrading works?

The Delta Swimming Complex along Tiong Bahru Road has been closed for renovation and upgrading works for more than a year.

The public swimming facility is a popular one in a mature residential estate near the Central Business District zone. 

The pool was closed for renovation and upgrading on Sept 1, 2019 and a notice stated that it would reopen on Aug 31, 2020.

ActiveSg, the national movement for sports, said in November 2019 that the refurbished centre would have an accessibility ramp into the training pool to cater for older residents and those with disabilities. It also said then that the centre would reopen by the end of 2020.

Granted, the Covid-19 pandemic has stalled construction work for a period.

However, it has been more than a year since it closed for renovation and the current site still looks like it is in the midst of a massive redevelopment with recent hacking work and far from being completed.

What is the status of the works and why is there such a long wait before the public can use the facilities again?

For other pools, ActiveSG should review the access so that the public may swim in the afternoon and do away with the one-hour limit for swimmers, at least for weekdays. This is especially since Singapore is now in the third phase of its reopening.
