“Cooking is the only thing I can do for my mum. I hope she’s proud of me,” says ‘Adam’, an inmate at Singapore Changi Prison who is participating in this year’s Yellow Ribbon Culinary Competition.
The competition aims to equip inmates with vocational skills to increase their employability in the F&B sector after their release.
Participants undergo two days of culinary training conducted by professional chefs, and some even get to share the food they prepared with their families.
