KUANTAN (Pahang) — Malaysian police arrested 34 individuals after several images of female participants stripping to their undergarments during a supposedly motivational camp at a resort in Bukit Tinggi, Bentong went viral on social media on Tuesday (March 19).

The female participants were allegedly taking part in a game organised by a beauty spa from Johor Baru at the playground within the resort’s compound.

State Criminal Investigations Department chief Datuk Othman Nanyan said police noticed that several images of the female participants had gone viral on Facebook and some of the individuals were semi-naked.

He said police arrested 34 individuals including four men who were the programme coordinator and participants — all of whom were from the spa's company based in Johor.

"The participants were attending the programme at the resort between March 18 until Wednesday and some of the participants from Kuala Lumpur have already returned home. The programme was attended by some 80 local female participants.

"Investigations revealed that during the programme some of the participants were found clad only in their undergarments. Some residents nearby had rebuked the organisers and lodged a police report," he said in statement.

He urged the participants who had attended the programme and returned home to be present at the Bentong police station to assist investigations.

Mr Othman said the individuals arrested are being investigated under Section 294 (a) of the Penal Code for indecent exposure, which can land them in jail for three months, a fine or both upon conviction.

Bukit Tinggi made headlines for the wrong reasons two years ago when police arrested 48 participants, including 39 men, for stripping naked and blatantly exposing themselves during a sports activity.

It is learnt that the semi-nude female participants were picked up at the same resort where police had detained the naked men on Jan 22, 2017. NEW STRAITS TIMES
