Malaysia dismisses report linking militants to MH370

The police in Malaysia have denied a report by British newspaper Daily Mail claiming that the suspected militants arrested last week were being detained as part of a probe into the disappearance of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

The 11 suspected militants arrested in Kedah and Selangor are allegedly part of a group that was planning to carry out terrorist acts in the country and abroad. The Malaysian media have reported that the group is believed to have networks in Syria and were planning to send fighters to fight the country’s war.

‘This has nothing to do with the plane,’ Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar yesterday told The Star.

A Daily Mail report on Saturday had said the group had links to Al Qaeda and was being interrogated by international investigators on the disappearance of the plane. AGENCIES
