GEORGE TOWN — Search and rescue (SAR) teams in Malaysia have on Monday (Jan 21) afternoon located the Mazda CX-5 SUV which plunged off the Penang Bridge a day earlier.

The vehicle was spotted at 4pm on the sea floor, about 15 metres away from the 34th pillar of the bridge.

Efforts are now underway to raise the vehicle using a crane.

“The SAR team is still carrying out works at the location the car was found.

“We will arrange for a press conference (to provide the latest developments on the situation) shortly,” said Seberang Perai Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid.
