PASIR GUDANG (Malaysia) — The Malaysian police said on Wednesday (May 24) that they have arrested a couple for violating decency in a public place, after a video of them caught in a compromising position in a car made its rounds on Facebook.

The couple, which includes a teenager, was alleged to have acted indecently in a white Perodua Myvi car that was parked at Taman Tasik Bandar, a park located in Pasir Gudang, Johor, at 11am last Sunday.

Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said investigators detected the 42-second video on Facebook that was uploaded by a user called Izwan Mansur in a page called "Pasir Gudang Scientex Community group".

"The police carried out investigations and found that the incident happened at the Taman Tasik Bandar parking lot on May 21. Acting on the information, a police team from the Pasir Gudang police station arrested the couple between 11pm and 11.45pm yesterday.

"Both suspects were picked up at the Tanjung Puteri Resort and Taman Rinting near here,” said Mr Mohd Sohaimi in a statement on Wednesday.

Mr Mohd Sohaimi said the male suspect was later identified as a 29-year-old Malaysian, while the woman is 19-years-old.

He said that further checks revealed that the male suspect had a record of past criminal offences.

"Besides the arrest, police also seized a white Perodua Myvi car that was believed to be used by the suspects,” he said.

Mr Mohd Sohaimi said the case is being investigated under Section 337D of the Penal Code.

If convicted, the suspects may face imprisonment of up to two years.
