Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia increases to 14 with 212 new infections

KUALA LUMPUR — The death toll for Covid-19 in Malaysia climbed to 14, with three new fatalities reported on Monday (March 23).

KUALA LUMPUR — The death toll for Covid-19 in Malaysia climbed to 14, with three new fatalities reported on Monday (March 23).

The country’s Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdulah said the 12th case involved a 70-year old man from the religious gathering cluster at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur. He was treated at the Kluang Hospital in Johor.

The 13th victim was a 49-year-old man who was the son of patient number 1,031. He was receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital.

A 51-year-old woman who was receiving treatment at the Miri Hospital, identified as a close contact of a positive case from the religious gathering cluster, was the 14th victim who succumbed to the virus.

A total of 212 new infections have also been reported on Monday, bringing the total number cases to 1,518. THE MALAYSIAN INSIGHT
