IPOH — A boy died after he was accidentally stabbed by his 11-year-old cousin at the latter's home in Taman Cempaka, Kampung Koh Setiawan.
The seven-year-old was killed instantly after being stabbed in his chest during the 10.20pm incident on Friday (Nov 13), when both their families were busy making preparations for Deepavali the next day.
His uncle told reporters that the incident happened when the boy's cousin went inside the house to take a knife after being told by her mother to cut a rope.
"The boy who lived next door suddenly ran into the house before they bumped into each other at the front door.
"This caused the knife to pierce the victim in the chest. We took him to the Seri Manjung Hospital but he did not make it," the 43-year-old uncle said when met at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) Forensic Unit on Sunday.
The uncle said his nephew's request to have mutton curry before the tragedy struck would forever haunt him.
"I told him that he could only taste it the next day as it was the main dish for Deepavali celebrations. We didn't expect that he would be gone so soon," he said.
Manjung district police chief Nor Omar Sappi said a post-mortem was conducted at the HRPB on Sunday morning and the police were still investigating the case. NEW STRAITS TIMES
