KOTA TINGGI — "You go out first".

Those were the last words of a woman who was burnt to death in a horrific road accident at KM45.7 of the North-South Expressway (south-bound) near Sedenak on Saturday (Oct 15).

Mr Redzuan Jamil, 28, said he was pulled away from the window of the rear passenger seat while trying to save his wife Nurul Nazihah Kamalul Arifin, better known as Azi, also 28.

"My attempts to break the car's windshield and front passenger door failed as my wife was pinned to her seat.

"The fuel tank suddenly exploded, prompting those in the area to pull me away as the fire was already spreading.

"I didn't feel the heat from the fire, and even my wife didn't call my name after asking me to leave and save myself," said the distraught man when met at his parents' house in Kampung Lukut Batu 4 here today.

A heart-breaking video of Mr Redzuan wailing and calling for his wife as he watched his car go up in flames went viral last night.

In the 7.45pm accident, two people died when the vehicles they were in crashed into an accident involving four cars near Sedenak.

The other deceased had yet to be identified.

Recalling the tragedy, Mr Redzuan who suffered burns on his face, said it started from a traffic congestion caused by another road accident near the scene.

"At the time, all vehicles including ours had stopped, but there was suddenly a huge impact caused by another vehicle from behind that crashed into three cars.

"I only realised a few moments later that a five-tonne lorry had crashed into our car, before some people pulled me out."

Mr Redzuan, who is also a takaful insurance agent, said he and his wife had just met a client in Kluang.

He said they were on their way to Stadium Sultan Ibrahim in Iskandar Puteri to watch the JDT-Sabah FC football match.
