KUALA LUMPUR — A four-year-old boy died after he was purportedly flung out from a unit on the fourth floor of an apartment in Danau Kota, Setapak on Sunday (Nov 29) morning.

The boy, known to neighbours as Adam, was said to have been thrown out by his stepgrandfather after the latter attempted to rape his stepdaughter, who was the victim's mother, at about 7.40am.

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid, said they received information of the incident at 8am.

"Preliminary investigations found that the 42-year-old suspect tried to rape his stepdaughter who was sleeping in the living room but was stopped by his wife and other stepchildren," he told reporters at the crime scene.

"The victim's stepchildren, between 19 and 29 years old, tried to stop him. The suspect then became furious and began striking the others in the house."

SAC Azhan added that the suspect's stepchildren started screaming for help from neighbours.

That was when he lifted Adam and headed to the window of the main room and threw the child out.

"The suspect also jumped out through the same window," SAC Azhan said.

"He was then detained by security guards and members of the public who later handed him over to the police."
