Singaporean killed in crash on North-South Expressway near Ipoh

IPOH — A Singaporean was killed and another injured when the high-powered motorcycle they were riding skidded and crashed into the road divider in the Menora Tunnel on the North South Expressway – northbound – near Ipoh, early on Friday (Jan 25).

IPOH — A Singaporean was killed and another injured when the high-powered motorcycle they were riding skidded and crashed into the road divider in the Menora Tunnel on the North South Expressway – northbound – near Ipoh, early on Friday (Jan 25).

TODAY understands that the deceased is the pillion rider, who was flung off the bike and died at the scene. 

The motorcyclist, her husband, suffered abrasions on his shoulder. 

The couple were on their way to Thailand to join a travelling convoy when the accident happened. 

The deceased's body is now en route to Singapore.

An earlier report by the New Straits Times had said it was the rider who was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman suffered injuries.

The Meru Raya Fire and Rescue station received an emergency call about the accident at 5.18am, said a spokesman for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department.

He added that rescuers retrieved and handed the deceased's body to the police for further action, and that the rescue operation ended at 6.49am. AGENCIES
