ALOR GAJAH (Malacca) — A school teacher who molested and raped his Form Five student on several occasions was nabbed some 10 months after he committed his alleged crimes.

The case unfolded in March of 2019, when the suspect, who was also the volleyball coach of his school in Telok Mas, deceived his victim by taking her to a location where he said she could meet other volleyball players.

Instead, the 42-year-old widower took the 17-year-old to a chalet in Pengkalan Balak in Masjid Tanah, where the girl was molested. This occurred on the morning of March 27, 2019, said Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Arshad Abu.

“The following day, the suspect drove the victim to Port Dickson, where he is believed to have raped the student at a hotel.

“At 9am on March 29, 2019, the suspect then sent the victim to the Paroi Volley Ball Hall in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, to take part in a competition.

“After the conclusion of the volleyball competition, the suspect is believed to have picked-up the teen before returning to the hotel, where he raped the victim again,” he said.

Arshad said the suspect then sent the victim back home and threatened her not to reveal the incident, as he was in possession of a pornographic video of her, which he would make public.

The victim, who now works as a sales personnel at a supermarket, continued to be harassed and threatened by the suspect.

Unable to take the continued harassment and threats, the victim finally lodged a police report at the Masjid Tanah police station on Jan 15.

A team comprising rank-and-file personnel from the Alor Gajah district police headquarters then tracked down the suspect and arrested him at Batu Berendam at 12.45pm on Monday.

Arshad said the suspect has been remanded until Jan 27.

He added that an investigation is being carried out under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape; and Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for knowingly acquiring or possessing child pornography. NEW STRAITS TIMES
