BALI, INDONESIA — A tourist who happened to be at the scene of an accident at a popular beach destination in Bali, Indonesia cautioned other travellers to "be careful when you're in a Third World country".

In her video posted on Thursday (Dec 8), user "saltyseadawg" recounted the incident that happened on Nov 21.

While she and her friends were making their way to the lookout point, a guide informed them that a man had fallen off a cliff and fractured his leg at Broken Beach in Nusa Penida.

In her video, "saltyseadawg" said that the accident happened at 9am and they had arrived around 10am. Emergency services were unable to reach the man until 4pm due to the dangerous terrain and tides, she added.

She then ended her video by saying: "Be careful when you are in a Third World country because things happen like this all the time and are just never reported about."

Then, in captions, she continued: "Just some awareness when travelling to destinations that might not have the same emergency / medical help you do at home. Don't be stupid and be safe!"

Indonesia's media outlets reported that the man had fallen at 9.30am after trying a somersault at the edge of the cliff while his tour guide took pictures of him.

As emergency services could not reach him due to the high tide and dangerous terrain surrounding the cliff, he was rescued more than five hours later at 3.15pm.

The man, who was found conscious and covered in blood, had fractured his leg and suffered from hand injuries. He was evacuated using a stretcher and rushed to the hospital.

TikTok users defended the seemingly delayed response from the emergency services in Bali: “To be fair, this could happen in Australia. If help can’t get to you, it can’t get to you.”

Another said: "I think the cautionary tale should be not to do stupid stuff — regardless of which country you’re in."

One TikTok user agreed: "Isn't it common sense to not do something dangerous like that? Literally even in First World countries."

Others chided the tourist for performing the dangerous stunt, such as: “Bro decides to do a somersault in a dangerous area and expects nothing bad to happen.”

Another online user advised: “Maybe also don't do a somersault on a cliff."
