SINGAPORE — British Airways has released its campaign photo of Gwyneth Paltrow sitting pretty in its Club World Seat in the infinity pool of Marina Bay Sands with the Singapore skyline behind.

Yes, the Oscar winner was here to launch British Airways’ new A380 superjumbo flight between London and Singapore, and her appearance at the pool atop MBS, looking immaculate in her dress by British designer Safiyaa and heels by Jimmy Choo, stunned onlookers in the hotel.

“Singapore has always been a top destination on my wish list, so when British Airways approached me to help launch their impressive A380 to Singapore I couldn’t resist — it was a great opportunity, both fun and truly unique,” Paltrow said in a statement released by the airline.

She added that she was pleased to finally have a picture of herself in the famed infinity pool and that she’s a big fan of the food here, especially chilli crabs. “I’ve really enjoyed exploring the city and trying the amazing variety of food on offer. There’s still so much that I want to visit here and I look forward to returning!” she added.

Robert Williams, British Airways regional general manager, South East Asia, explained as a frequent flier of the airline, Paltrow was the “perfect fit” for this news annoucement and that she was “a lot of fun to work with”.

“Gwyneth was delighted to work with us here in Singapore and made the journey via London especially to be with us – she also made sure that she had some down time to explore the city,” he said.

Apparently the former Mrs Martin was spotted in Haji Lane and shopping in the shops of Marina Bay Sands by sharp-eyed passers-by who tweeted sightings of her.

As for how they managed to make the Club World seat “levitate” in the middle of the pool, Williams would only reveal that it was a skilled team which managed to make the seat look like it’s floating. “The real challenge though was how to get Gwyneth in to the seat without getting wet!” he quipped.

British Airways runs three A380 services a week between London and Singapore from today

In an earlier version of this story, we reported that the heels worn by Gwyneth Paltrow were from Elizabeth Saltzman. This is incorrect. They were by Jimmy Choo.
