SINGAPORE — Peter Yu welcomed his second son into the world on Wednesday (Aug 24) morning. Weighing 3.54kg, baby Israel was delivered at around 10am through Caesarean section.

Speaking to Toggle over the phone, the 48-year-old shared that the delivery process “was over very quickly – it only took around 10 to 15 minutes”. Prior to speaking to the media, he told his friends and family about the good news.

Revealing that this was his first time in the operating theatre, Yu confessed that he was “very nervous” and that his wife, Brenda, opted for regional anesthesia so that she would be awake for the delivery. She is currently resting after giving birth as she was feeling slightly dizzy.

As for his son’s name, he and his wife decided on Israel after the family visited the Jesus Trail and felt that the name was suitable for their child.

The couple arrived at Thomson Medical Centre at around 6.30am, with their elder son, Christian, arriving shortly after at around 8. Christian was the first to see his younger brother. When we asked about Christian’s reaction to his younger brother, Yu chuckled, “I didn’t notice his expression because I was only looking at Israel ... that being said, I won’t be biased towards either of my boys.”

To better look after his family after the birth of his second son, Yu will take five days off work, which means that he will neither be driving his taxi nor working on upcoming Channel 8 drama, Hero. His next scheduled filming date is on Sept 3. TOGGLE.SG
