SINGAPORE — It was a case of art imitating life for Jeanette Aw while filming for the new MediaCorp TV Channel U drama Let It Go.

In the show, which is executive produced by WaWa Pictures’ Molby Low, Aw plays a blogger and relationship guru who, having had several failed relationships and cheating boyfriends, coaches the newly single on how to let go of their failed relationships.

Aw revealed that she herself had been cheated on, back in her university days. “I had that experience with my uni boyfriend, so I can relate,” she shared at today’s (Feb 12) media conference at the Four Seasons Hotel. “With my own eyes, I saw him walk by with another girl. So, when we were filming a similar scene, it felt so real. I was quite young back then and I wasn’t very experienced in love, so it really hurt.”

Co-star Elvin Ng, who plays a photographer and Aw’s love interest, also expressed angst over failed relationships in the past. “Unless you fall in love at first sight and get married, it’s inevitable that you go through breakups,” he said. “They are very painful. It’s very difficult to find yourself and be strong again.”

As to whether he holds on to gifts from his ex-lovers, he said: “I keep them because they are just things. They still hold good memories. You don’t delete them altogether.”

Let It Go also stars Cavin Soh, Mindee Ong and Jackson Tan.

Catch Let It Go starting Feb 23, weekdays at 10pm, on MediaCorp TV Channel U.
