SINGAPORE — MediaCorp won three top awards at the 2nd Asia Rainbow TV Awards 2014, which promotes the development of Asian TV production in Asia as well as internationally. It also picked up a creative win at the recent 2014 Apollo Awards. Both are regional awards that honours the best in TV production.

The Channel 8 hit drama, C.L.I.F. 2, won Best Action Drama at the Asia Rainbow TV Awards, which was held in Macau, while The Journey: A Voyage, the 2013 year-end blockbuster about the lives of Singapore’s early immigrants, took home the Outstanding Scriptwriter Award. Channel NewsAsia bagged the Outstanding TV Documentary for Nature & Environment for the documentary Surviving Haiyan.

Meanwhile, at the 2014 Apollo Awards, MediaCorp won Best Music Composition — Full Length Versions for The Journey: A Voyage. This was the first time MediaCorp participated in the Music Composition category at the awards show, which recognises the best in production and post-production across Asia Pacific, especially the creative and technical teams behind-the-scenes.

Doreen Neo, MD of Studios, said: “We are very happy to win the Best Action Drama and Outstanding Scriptwriter Awards at the Asia Rainbow TV Awards despite the stiff competition. We were competing against popular titles such as The Legend of Zhen Huan from China and The Heirs from Korea across the categories we were nominated in. Together with our win for Best Music Composition Award at the Apollo Awards, we are heartened that our productions are gaining recognition in the TV industry in Asia.”
