PRE-THEATRE SET DINNERS AT MARINA BAY SANDS. Fans of The Phantom Of The Opera can now enjoy special pre-theatre menus at four celebrity chef restaurants at Marina Bay Sands. CUT by Wolfgang Puck (Tel: 6688 8517), for instance, is serving a two-course set dinner (S$65 per person) with main course options being the USDA Prime Striploin Steak Frites, Norwegian Salmon En Barigoule or the Halal Baby Chicken with potato puree and field mushrooms. db Bistro Moderne (Tel: 6688 8525) offers a pre-theatre menu at S$58 or S$68 with a glass of wine; Osteria Mozza (Tel: 6688 8522) for S$60 per person; and Guy Savoy (Tel: 6688 8513), for S$130. STREET 50’S BLACK PEPPER LOBSTER. A dish created to celebrate the nation’s birthday, the Caribbean lobster (S$48+) is lightly sauteed in butter, topped with fresh gingko nuts and baby spinach, and wok-fried to perfection in a black pepper sauce made with freshly crushed black pepper corn, Chinese wine and other condiments. ORCHARD CAFE’S STRAITS CHINESE AND ASIAN BUFFET. Executive Chef Paul Then’s classic Baba dishes such as the babi pongteh or the ayam buah keluak (braised chicken with Indonesian black nuts) are not to be missed. MELT’S PERANAKAN HERITAGE BUFFET. PLATTERS RED OR WHITE DRINKS BARREL PROMO. In celebration of National Day, Platters Bistro & Wine Bar has rolled out this drinks promotion. Anyone born in August or in 1965 can purchase a Platter Barrel of Moscato Sangria or Red Wine Spritzer at S$99 (UP: S$120). The Platters Moscato Sangria is a blend of moscato and white peach juice, ideal for those who prefer a sweeter tipple. M HOTEL’S FEAST ON THE MOVE. This annual epicurean adventure is back with five themed menus from each of the hotel’s F&B outlets. Start with the signature lychee martini and succulent oysters at J Bar, before heading for a buffet spread of more than 80 types of Asian dishes at Anson Room. At The Buffet will be the place to go for steamboa, while Cafe 2000 will feature barbecue and premium roast meats. Finish with something sweet at the Banquet Suite, which will be transformed into a fantastical dessert hall. Prizes such as hotel stays and dining vouchers can also be won. MINI MIYAZAKI AT TRIPLE THREE. This is hawked as a fine opportunity to dig into the cuisine of Japan’s Miyazaki prefecture. But, really, it is its wagyu beef that hogs the buffet. No doubt, guests can look forward to an array of serving styles, slow-roasted or via a serving of shabu shabu. Or stick to an unadulterated steak. Right from the start, though, there will be a selection of sushi and sashimi, from a Miyazaki kampachi, hamo or beef sushi, all served alongside the restaurant’s signature dishes like the roasted rack of lamb and lobster mentaiyaki. 10 AT CLAYMORE’S TIMELESS PLATES OF PLEASURES. Available in petite portions and unlimited servings. Don’t miss the Indo-China duck breast pan-seared in a tangy citrus honey glaze or the Australian master Kobe wagyu beef that’s slow roasted and served in a mushroom crème dressing. AXIS BAR & LOUNGE’S RED AND WHITE AFTERNOON TEA. PRINCESS TERRACE’S PENANG HERITAGE CUISINE. Get nostalgic with grilled hard-tail stuffed with sambal chilli or the wok-fried prawn with salted egg yolk. Unusual favourites include the lum mee (poached yellow noodle with pork belly and egg soup) and mee teow (wok-fried longevity noodles). THE LINE’S S$4.80 BUFFET LUNCH AND DINNER. Indulge in Singaporean laska or Hainanese chicken rice in the spirit of National Day. The freshly shucked oysters are one of the highlights. MATSUTAKE MUSHROOM SEASON AT MIKUNI. Back by popular demand, Mikuni invites diners to once again indulge in a celebration of one of Japan’s most prized mushrooms, expertly prepared by Mikuni’s Executive Chef Moon Kyung Soo. There is even a revival of an old favourite rom the Matsutake mushroom in the form of Moon’s Kagoshima Wagyu Sukiyaki, from the a la carte menu. Generous blocks of wagyu are added to a hotpot of onion, burdock and bamboo shoots, topped with a panko-crusted fried whole egg. Guests who opt for the Matsutake Seven Course Dinner Tasting Menu (S$200/S$300 with sake pairing) can look forward to unique creations such as the Modori Katsuo Tataki, interlaced with slivers of Matsutake mushrooms and dressed with a fragrant black truffle mushroom soya.
