14 men face charges for having paid sex with underage girl

SINGAPORE — Fourteen men were charged this morning (Sept 4) for having paid sex with an underage girl, in the third vice ring case since a high-profile online vice ring case broke last year.

10 out of 14 men are expected to plead guilty. One of the men — a 72-year-old housekeeper — is claiming trial.

The men are aged between 22 to 75 years old. The youngest is a full-time national serviceman, while the oldest man is unemployed.

According to court documents, the men had paid between S$40 to S$150 to obtain sexual services from the underage girl at various hotels in Geylang in May this year. The girl, who cannot be named to protect her identity, was 17 years old at the time of the offences.

More men are expected to be charged at a later date.

If convicted, the men could be jailed up to seven years or fine, or both.
