SINGAPORE — Four suspected drug offenders were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning (March 1) after a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) operation at an industrial building in Yishun.
Among the four arrested included two Singaporeans — a 52-year-old male and a 29-year-old male Singaporean. The other two alleged offenders were Malaysians. During the operation, around 970g of heroin were seized together with over S$8,000 in cash.
CNB said the 52-year-old Singaporean was a suspected drug trafficker. The 29-year-old was his suspected associate. At around 6am, the pair arrived in a car at an industrial building in Yishun where the Malaysian suspects had been spotted earlier in the day to have parked their motorcycle.
After approaching the motorcycle, the two Singaporeans later drove away in the same car. They were arrested shortly after along Ubi Avenue 2 with two big packets of heroin. More heroin was later discovered during a search of the suspected drug trafficker’s home.
The two Malaysian suspects — a 48-year-old male Malaysian and a 45-year-old female Malaysian — were simultaneously arrested at the industrial building in Yishun. Over S$8,000 in cash was recovered from the 48-year-old.
Investigations into the drug activities of all suspects are ongoing. They could all face the death penalty if the amount of diamorphine (pure heroin) trafficked exceeds 15g.
