Fire damages NUS research lab

SINGAPORE — Fire damaged a research laboratory in the Engineering block of the National University of Singapore (NUS) in Kent Ridge last night (Apr 4).

SINGAPORE — Fire damaged a research laboratory in the Engineering block of the National University of Singapore (NUS) in Kent Ridge last night (Apr 4).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted at about 10.15pm.

A spokesman said when firefighters arrived at the scene, the laboratory, which had chemical materials, was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters took about an hour to bring the blaze under control.

A man - believed to be a research student - and a security guard were sent to the National University Hospital (NUH) for smoke inhalation. They have since been discharged. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
