Flash floods reported in Bugis, Orchard areas

SINGAPORE – At least two flash floods were reported in the Orchard and Bugis areas on Wednesday (Feb 8), following a heavy evening downpour.

SINGAPORE – At least two flash floods were reported in the Orchard and Bugis areas on Wednesday (Feb 8), following a heavy evening downpour.

The PUB  issued alerts via Twitter at about 6pm that flash floods were sighted at Orchard Boulevard towards Paterson Road, and at the junction of Hill Street/Stamford Road. Both floods subsided in about 15 minutes, and traffic remained passable, PUB said in subsequent tweets.

The national water agency also issued alerts for three areas facing high flood risks. The water level at Exeter Road/Somerset Road was at 100 per cent at 5.48pm, while the water level at Chin Bee Ave/Third Chin Bee Road in Boon Lay and Veerasamy Road in Little India rose above 90 per cent at 5.25pm and 6.01pm respectively.
