In full: PM Lee accepts Mdm Halimah Yacob's resignation from the PAP

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has accepted Madam Halimah Yacob's resignation from the People's Action Party. In a three-page letter, Mr Lee assured that he will soon appoint replacements to the posts she is relinquishing - due to her decision to run for President - as well as a grassroots advisor to look after Marsiling residents. A separate statement from the Prime Minister's Office also disclosed that Mr Charles Chong will serve as Acting Speaker of Parliament, following Madam Halimah's resignation as Speaker.
