Little India riot: Four more charged

SINGAPORE — Another four Indian nationals were charged in court this afternoon (Dec 12) for their roles in the riot in Little India on Sunday.

SINGAPORE — Another four Indian nationals were charged in court this afternoon (Dec 12) for their roles in the riot in Little India on Sunday.

To date, a total of 31 men have been charged in court for rioting in relation to Sunday’s incident.

If found guilty, the men could be jailed for up to seven years and be caned.

All the men — including the four charged today — continue to be held in remand pending further police investigations.

On Sunday, a riot was sparked following a traffic accident involving Indian national Sakthivel Kumaravelu, 33.

Rioters attacked the bus that knocked down and killed Sakthivel. They also pelted police and Singapore Civil Defence Force officers with projectiles as they tried to extricate the body from under the bus’ left rear tyre.
