9.20pm: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam is at the Jurong GRC tribute site. He pens his tributes to Mr Lee in a book there.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Tharman said: "Once in a long while, somewhere in the world, you get a person who just has that steel, that gumption, that desire to go at all costs to make a vision come true. We are very lucky in Singapore that we had that person in a very critical time in our history- and our history is the history of Lee Kuan Yew's vision, his steel, and his gumption."

9.10pm: Barricades for queues and tentages for people to go through security scans have been set up at Parliament House, in preparation for visits by members of the public. Tentages have also been spotted along Singapore River. Mr Lee Kuan Yew will lie in state at Parliament House from tomorrow (March 25) to Saturday from 10am to 8pm for members of the public to pay their last respects.

8.12pm: People's Association (PA) says Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be attending a "Tribute Night" organised by Ang Mo Kio GRC tomorrow (March 25). It will be held at AMK Central Stage at AMK Town Centre at 7.30pm. Residents, students and grassroots volunteers will join Mr Lee in paying their tribute to his father, said PA.
7.20pm: Mr Lee Hsien Loong, in a Facebook post, thanks NParks for naming a new orchid in honour of his father. The orchid was presented to him at Istana earlier this afternoon.

7.10pm: Ministers are seen at various tribute sites. Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean arrives at the Pasir-Punggol community tribute site, joined by Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC MPs Penny Low, Gan Thiam Poh and Zainal Sapari. Mr Teo was later seen comforting a sobbing resident, who was clutching a large bouquet of white flowers. Asked what he said to residents who were upset, an emotional Mr Teo said he told them that "we should remember him for what he's done for us. But also to live up to what he did for us - to continue to build Singapore for the future".
Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim arrives around the same time at Hong Lim Park, a tribute site for Moulmein-Kallang GRC and Whampoa SMC. He visits exhibits set up by grassroots leaders and pens his tributes to Mr Lee Kuan Yew in a book.

6.20pm: Education Minister Heng Swee Keat returns to the Tampines tribute site. He is seen viewing the tribute board with members of the public. About 220 students and teachers from Tampines Junior College were also seen streaming in shortly after.
Mr Heng released an essay about Mr Lee’s "Red Box" at 6pm today, focusing on a large, boxy briefcase which carried what Mr Lee was working on at any one time and which "symbolises Mr Lee’s unwavering dedication to Singapore".
Speaking to reporters, Mr Heng said: "What saddens me is that the red box could no longer have its daily routine. But I trust that the box, the spirit behind the way Mr Lee worked, will live on and we will continue to maintain that high standard the Mr Lee expected of us."

6pm: Members from the Tampines Town Council have arrived. As at 5.45pm, some 3,500 people have visited the Tampines tribute centre. Together with Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC Baey Yam Keng, the Town Council members bowed three times as a mark of respect to Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

5.30pm: Joining the many residents at Jurong GRC's tribute site is former assistant director of the Singapore Zoo Subash Chandran, 63, who is now retired. Recollecting the many occasions where Mr Lee Kuan Yew would come to the zoo with his wife and subsequently with his grandchildren, he said the first thing Mr Lee would do is to look around the parameter of the park.
"He insisted on us building a storm water drain right around the parameter of the zoo, and the reason for that was to keep the water in the reservoir from becoming polluted by all the waste from the animals...On his visits, he actually made a point to go down to the edge of the reservoir to inspect the drains to make sure that they were free from any kind of obstruction. That is a testimony to how meticulous and intelligent he is," he added.
Wildlife Reserves Singapore chairman Claire Chiang also issued a statement paying tribute to Mr Lee earlier today. She said Mr Lee was a frequent visitor to the Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park and Night Safari with his family. The visits revealed the personal side of Mr Lee as a husband, father, and grandfather who was devoted to his family, she said.

5.10pm: Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development Lee Yi Shyan led about 35 members from the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) to pay their respects at the East Coast GRC tribute site. They brought bouquets of flowers which they laid on the stage, and are all in a white top and black long pants. Mr Lee is the president of SBA.
Tearing up, Mr Lee told reporters that Mr Lee was "just a man who so selflessly dedicated his whole life to Singapore". He added: "You can see everything he did was really about the security of Singapore, the well-being. Sometimes, he might come across very opinionated but his starting point has always been - what is a better way to secure this improbable nation."

4.30pm: Nanyang Technological University (NTU) announces it will hold a special Memorial Ceremony tomorrow (March 25) from 3pm to 4pm at the Nanyang Auditorium. Classes held during the ceremony will be re-scheduled, said NTU. Visitors can also view an Exhibition highlighting Mr Lee’s presence at NTU through the years. Condolence books have been placed at the Nanyang Auditorium foyer.
4pm: Thousands of people have already visited the tribute centres islandwide, to pay their respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew. As at 1.30pm, the site at East Coast GRC has already seen 4,800 people. The tribute site at Tampines Community Plaza have seen an estimated 2,500 people as at 3pm, with the first arriving as early as 6am. As at 4pm, about 3,500 visited the Choa Chu Kang site, while about 3,370 visited the Jurong GRC site. More than 2,000 have visited the site at People's Association (PA) Headquarters. According to PA, about 250 grassroots leaders attended the private wake at Istana. See photos here.
3.29pm: Spotted: A notice was put up at Block 5, Tanjong Pagar Plaza, informing residents that the MPS session yesterday (March 23) was cancelled due to Mr Lee's passing.

3.15pm: NTUC FairPrice announces the cancellation of its walking event, FairPrice Walks with U, which was supposed to be held this Sunday (March 29) at the Singapore SportsHub. However, it said in a press statement, FairPrice Foundation will fulfill its earlier commitment to donate S$150 for each registered participant. As there are 8,000 people who had registered for the walk, this donation will amount to S$1.2 million. All proceeds from participation fees will be donated to charity.
3pm: The queue at the Istana lengthens. Joining the group of grassroots leaders queuing up to enter the Istana for the private wake is Sheng Siong CEO Lim Hock Chee. He said: I met Mr (Lee Kuan Yew) many times when I was a boy. I want to thank him for being such a positive leader, and to show gratitude for building up Singapore."

2.50pm: Veteran politician and former Potong Pasir Member of Parliament Chiam See Tong and the Singapore People’s Party sent their condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on the demise of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
He said: "No one else has shaped modern Singapore more so than Lee Kuan Yew, since he became Prime Minister in 1959. He was a man of many seasons. He will live on in history, remaining for future generations the symbol of Singapore’s success."
2.10pm: A memorial service for the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew was held at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, the President of NUS, delivered an eulogy in which he said Mr Lee Kuan Yew was i nstrumental in the shaping and development of higher education in Singapore, particularly the university sector. The film "The Man and His Impact" was also played during the service, which was attended by more than 1,000 NUS staff, students and alumni.

2pm: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited the tributes area at the Istana around 2pm today (March 24) and spent about 10mins looking at the bouquets of flowers and condolence notes written by members of the public.
He stopped to exchange a few words with some members of the public who were at the Istana. Mr Lee spoke to a property agent and thank her for her support. Amidst the media scrum, members of the public shouted, "Prime Minister, take care of yourself" and "Majulah Singapura". Mr Lee thanked everyone for coming to pay tribute to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Groups of grassroots vounteers from various GRCs have started arriving at the Istana.
1pm: Free river taxi shuttle to Parliament: River Explorer announced today that it will be providing a free river taxi shuttle so that the public can access Parliament House to pay respects to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who will be lying in state from tomorrow to March 28.
The river shuttles will operate from Clarke Quay MRT (The Central) and Clifford Pier (Marina Bay) to Cavenagh Bridge from 12pm to 5pm.
12.30pm: As lunchtime rolls around, ministers and Members of Parliament are making appearances at the various tribute centres around the island.
Tampines: Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat and Senior Minister of State Masagos Zulkifli (not pictured) join MP Baey Yam Keng at the tribute centre.
Choa Chu Kang: Health Minister Gan Kim Yong and Parliamentary Secretary Low Yen Ling join an estimated 150 preschool children from PCF Sparkletots (Bukit Gombak branch), who arrived holding a bouquet of flowers each.

12.20pm: President Tony Tan Keng Yam arrived at the main gate of the Istana where he spent about 10 minutes looking at the condolence messages and speaking to a few members of the public.

12pm: Labour movement leaders Mr Chan Chun Sing and Mr Lim Swee Say joined the large crowds gathered at the NTUC Centre to pay tribute to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
In a speech, Secretary-General Lim Swee Say said that Mr Lee Kuan Yew viewed economic growth as means to social progress. He added that a special edition of NTUC 'thisweek' magazine will be issued "to help the public and Singaporeans understand how great a leader (Mr Lee Kuan Yew) was". He added: "I think his contribution, his leadership, his vision, how he changed the lives of the workers of Singapore, I think it is beyond words' description."
People from all over the CBD have been streaming in to pen notes in the condolence books. Just before noon, a moment of silence was observed as a sign of respect.

10.40am: Ms Grace Fu, Minister in Prime Minister's Office, wipes away a tear while at the tribute centre at Jurong East GRC. She said that the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew "is a giant in our hearts" who "left an irreplaceable imprint".
Ms Fu, who is also the MP for Yuhua SMC, said that support from the grassroots has been "overwhelming" with many people coming forward to volunteer. She added that this morning (March 24) she had principals of kindergartens telling her they were going to bring their children to the tribute centre.
She said: "It's a valued opportunity for everyone to come to pay respects, but also to once again reacquaint ourselves with what (Mr Lee Kuan Yew) has done - especially the younger generation who were not here during his earlier years."

10.30am: Mass at St Joseph Church on Friday - The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Singapore William Goh and the catholic community will be offering prayers and mass at the St Joseph Church on Victoria Street on Friday, March 27 at 1.15 pm.
In a letter to the Lee family, Archbishop Goh said: "Singapore owes her nationhood to him. As a nation, we have him to thank for everything we are proud to call 'Singapore'. Indeed, we count ourselves truly blessed to have had such a giant of a leader at a time when Singapore counted for nothing in the eyes of the world. It now behooves us to protect and to carry on the legacy which he has left us with – a foundation built on honesty, integrity, selfless love, filial piety, commitment and responsibility. This is the highest honour we can give to one who gave his all."10am: Arsenal Football Club and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation were among the businesses and other organisations that paid tribute to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew today.
9.20am: Over at Raffles Institution (RI), another alma mater of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew', flags were flown at half-mast during this morning's special assembly.
An exhibition area has also been set up in rememberance of Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the Raffles Archive & Museum in RI.

9.08am: Tribute centres islandwide see people from all walks of life streaming in.

Over at the community tribute centre at Choa Chu Kang GRC, a group of women pay their respects.
Construction worker Mr Ramasamy Mani, who dropped by the tribute centre at Jurong East GRC says: "Mr Lee was a father to Singapore and a teacher to many leaders all over the world. His life is a lesson for all leaders.
Children from the Mulberry Learning Centre bow their heads while paying tribute to Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the tribute centre at Jurong East GRC.
A group of elders from Thye Hua Kwan, a social hub for elderly located in Bukit Batok East, came in a chartered bus to pay their respects to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the Jurong East GRC.
The labour movement has opened a tribute centre for Mr Lee Kuan Yew located at the NTUC Centre at Raffles place.

8.24am: Members of the public continue to stream in to the main gate of the Istana, some choosing to come early to avoid the crowd.
Some like Mr Nick Ogden,a digital media company owner who has been working in Singapore for the past 6 years and has two teenage children studying here, says he is planning to go Parliament in the coming days to see the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew lying in state, and pay respects with his family.

7.56am: Some 1,300 students from Telok Kurau Primary School gather for a special morning assembly in the quadrangle where the school and state flags were flown at half-mast. The school was the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew's alma mater.
Taking reference from Education Minister Heng Swee Keat’s message to the Ministry of Education (MOE) community, school leaders addressed students and staff during their assemblies this morning to reflect on Mr Lee’s life and legacy.
