SINGAPORE — The new Cabinet, introduced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday (Sept 28), was sworn in this evening at the Istana.

Mr Lee also announced the formation of a committee to review Singapore's economic strategies to respond to the severe challenges posed by global economic conditions and domestic demographic trends.

The ceremony was broadcast live on television. More than 700 guests from all walks of life attended the ceremony.

The latest line-up sees significant departures from the past, among them the appointment of two more Coordinating Ministers — Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Mr Khaw Boon Wan — to oversee areas of importance to Singapore’s nation-building.

The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Trade and Industry will also have two ministers at the helm instead of one so that each minister can oversee one focus area.

Overall, eight out of 15 ministries will be helmed by a new minister. Leading the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Grace Fu will be the first woman to lead a ministry as a full minister.

Here are the live updates from the ceremony.
