SINGAPORE — A 30-year-old man who asked a minor to perform fellatio on him was sentenced to 10 months jail by the State Courts today (Aug 7).
In Feb 2012, Abdul Rahim Abubakar obtained the minor’s number from a mutual acquaintance and offered S$60 in return for sexual services. The minor, who was then 14, agreed. Rahim then asked the minor to meet him at Telok Blangah Drive. The minor who was wearing her school uniform later went up to Rahim’s friend’s flat. In the flat, he gave her S$40 in cash. The minor later performed consensual fellatio on him.
Before the minor left the flat, Rahim asked for S$20 back from her, assuring that he would give her the money on another day. The minor then left the flat and went home. The minor cannot be named.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Allison Phua pressed for a 12-months’ jail term as the minor was only 14 when the act took place. “The accused (Rahim) is 13 years her senior, a significant age gap,” said Ms Phua.
Rahim could have been jailed up to 10 years, or with fine, or both.
