SINGAPORE – Drivers looking to buy second-hand cars in Singapore can now add one more online platform in their search for used vehicles.

Carousell Motors, a new mobile app by local online marketplace Carousell, will be available on the App Store for iOS, the Google Play Store for Android, and on Desktop from Tuesday (Feb 28).

While it is not the only online platform to offer the buying and selling of used cars, Mr Quek Siu Rui, Co-founder and CEO of Carousell, noted in a media release on Tuesday that many users of such sites were frustrated with the lack of ease of navigating them and the insufficient information they provided.

“Carousell Motors is our response to the frustration faced by car buyers today,” said Mr Quek.

The company promises users that the app will provide a “clutter-free mobile interface that offers a smooth and easy car buying experience”.

Moreover, it will offer features such as allowing buyers to search for their car of choice by make, model or dealers.

Buyers can even use quick filters, including financing options and car depreciation, to find what they need.

Similar to Carousell, users of this new dedicated car-trading platform can save their favourites and chat directly with verified dealerships on the app. But it has an added feature to allow potential buyers to compare car options.

All listings on Carousell Motors will be available on Carousell’s general marketplace. Existing car owners will be able to “snap, list and sell” their cars as easily as it is to buy and sell other goods on Carousell.

The launch of Carousell Motors came off the back of Carousell’s acquisition of Caarly, a startup which used mobile technology to build productivity tools for car dealerships.

Mr Sanjay Shivkumar, Head of Carousell Motors, said: “By constantly innovating and using the latest technology to make car buying and selling enjoyable, we are well-positioned to disrupt current industry offerings and become the top cars classifieds in Singapore.”
