Online vice ring: Pimp’s appeal dismissed

SINGAPORE — A High Court judge today (June 28) dismissed the appeal of the pimp behind the online vice ring case involving an underage girl.

SINGAPORE — A High Court judge today (June 28) dismissed the appeal of the pimp behind the online vice ring case involving an underage girl. Earlier this year, 39-year-old businessman Tang Boon Thiew was convicted of 20 charges, which included living in part on the earnings of prostitutes and abetting men in obtaining the sexual services of the girl, who was 17 years old then. He has been sentenced to four years and 10 months in jail and fined S$90,000. Tang, who recruited 19 escorts, had another 82 other charges taken into consideration. He ran a social escort agency where some of the women, including the 17-year-old girl, provided sexual services to the clients, while he pocketed 50 per cent of their earnings. His clients included 51 men who were charged with paying the underage girl for sex. To date, 20 of the 51 men have been convicted and sentenced to jail. Three of the convicted men are appealing against their sentences.
