SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met up with the outgoing Cabinet for the last time today (Sept 30), before the new Cabinet is sworn in tomorrow.

In a Facebook post, Mr Lee said he thanked Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State (Trade and Industry and National Development) Lee Yi Shyan and Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Manpower and Education) Hawazi Daipi for their many contributions. The three men will be stepping down.

“Tomorrow a new Cabinet will take office. Will continue to work hard with the new team for a better future for Singapore,” said Mr Lee on the Facebook post, which also had photographs taken during today’s meeting.

The new Cabinet line-up was announced on Monday and will consist of 37 office holders, up from the current 33.

The Law Ministry is the only ministry out of 15 where its political office-holders will stay put. Eight ministries will be led by new Cabinet Ministers with the Education Ministry helmed by two newly-elected Acting Ministers — former Chief of Defence Force Ng Chee Meng and Keppel Corporation director of group strategy and development Ong Ye Kung.
