SINGAPORE – To help parents and their children make a decision on which school to enroll in, a web application has been created to help narrow down the choices based on a variety of search filters.
In a blogpost on Monday (May 29) by the Data.gov.sg team from GovTech, it announced the launch of the School Picker web application, which was created using data on the 182 primary schools and 154 secondary schools that are located across the island.
The application starts off with requiring users to fill in the appropriate school level, their home address and desired Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and other programmes.
With these three fields filled up, the application will generate a list of schools based on the search terms.
Schools within the one and two kilometre-radius are highlighted in blue, which the team said would be particularly useful for primary school admissions.
Clicking on either the schools shown on the map or the panel on the left of the screen brings up more information about the school, including directions to get there.
Users will also able to shortlist and compare the schools of their choices, the team said.
The School Picker web application can be accessed at: https://schoolpicker.sg
