SINGAPORE — StarHub has introduced a new travel data plan that offers users travelling to selected countries in Asia-Pacific up to 3G of data for a flat fee.

StarHub Mobile postpaid customers will be able to use the data in a single country or across multiple destinations for 30 days, starting from the date of purchase of the DataTravel plan. These destinations are: Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and The Philippines.

Customers pay S$15 for 2GB of data, and S$20 for 3GB of data. The plan is billed upon purchase and has no additional monthly subscription or activation fee.

Under the DataTravel plan, customers’ phones will be automatically connected to the strongest available mobile network signal when overseas. Users do not have to manually search for or lock their phones to a specific preferred mobile network.

Singtel and M1 also offer various data plans for travellers.

For instance, Singtel’s ReadyRoam plan charges travellers S$20 for 1GB of data for use in 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, and S$35 for 1GB of data for use in various destinations across Europe, US and Canada over 30 days. M1 offers the Data Passport plan, which allows users to extend their local data bundle for use while overseas for a fee.
